A Worcestershire law firm has partnered with county radio station Free Radio to lend their support to one of the area’s most popular annual charity events.
MFG Solicitors has announced the sponsorship deal with Free Radio to back the station’s second Walk for Kids event which takes place on Sunday 7 July.
The 10.5-mile walk, which is free to enter, is helping to raise funds for local charities Acorns Children’s Hospice, Megan Baker House and New Hope with employees from the law firm joining thousands of fundraisers along the route which starts at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern with the finish line at Worcester Racecourse.
Kirsten Bridgewater, partner at MFG Solicitors said: “Everyone within the firm was really keen to lend their support to a local charity event this year so we’re thrilled to be backing Walk for Kids and playing our part to raise money for three much-loved local charities.
“We have a growing team of people across the firm who are slowly getting fit for what promises to be a challenging, but really fun event. We aren’t only getting our staff involved but are also urging as many local businesses as possible to take part and support the fantastic work Free Radio is doing.”
Free Radio’s breakfast show presenter Hursty added: “We’re bursting with excitement to get this year’s Walk for Kids underway and have seen a tremendous response so far which shows just how much the three charities mean to people.
“The event always has a great atmosphere with walkers in fancy dress, families walking together and like the great team at MFG Solicitors, lots of local businesses will be getting their staff involved too.
“I’ll even be sticking on my trainers again this year and look forward to meeting everyone before, during and after the walk. They might need to prop me up though!”
Free Radio has confirmed that thousands of people have already signed up for the event with the station hoping to top last year’s fundraising total of £108,000.
The Walk for Kids event has two starting times on 7 July – 10am and 10:30. Organisers are asking people to arrive at the starting line at least 30 minutes before for the walk which is expected to take from between two and four hours.

As part of the sponsorship MFG Solicitors is running a series of commercials on Free Radio and will be showcasing their services at the event. They are also playing a role to help encourage as many people as possible to participate through a variety of channels including through social media.
Acorns Children’s Hospice, one of the three charities the event is supporting, is also a cause chosen by the law firm’s employees to fundraise for in 2013.
