Lawyers are Leaders in their Field as Firm Makes Two Elite Lists

  • Posted

Nine solicitors from a single Midland firm have been named among the most outstanding in their field after appearing in two respected guides.

Legal specialists at mfg Solicitors, which has eight offices across the region, are named in the prestigious 2015 Legal 500 guide and in next year’s Chambers and Partners UK – both trusted across the world for their legal professional rankings.

Singled out as recognised practitioners in the Chambers and Partners UK list are mfg partner and rural expert Iain Morrison, partner and commercial dispute specialist Tom Esler and matrimonial expert, partner Gurdip Kaur Brring. Alongside litigator and associate, Sam Pedley, the four lawyers were praised for their experience in handling complex matters.

Overall, the firm made the Chambers list for its expertise in agriculture and rural affairs in Herefordshire and Worcestershire as well as its family and matrimonial experience. It is also listed within the litigation section for the Midlands region.

For the third year running, mfg has also been named among the best in the business by the prestigious Legal 500. The firm was placed in the top tier of firms for its private client, contentious trusts and probate work and recommended in a variety of other areas from dispute resolution to agriculture, family, tax, probate, property litigation, property and employment.

Appearing in the Legal 500 from mfg are Stephen Meredith, Robert Weston and Alison Webber, while Mr Morrison, Mr Esler and Mr Pedley appear in both lists.

Mr Esler and Mr Pedley make the list of recommended lawyers for dispute resolution while Mr Morrison is listed for agriculture and estates, along with tax and trust expert Mr Meredith.

Partner Mr Weston is recommended for the third year running, thanks to his reputation for handling a variety of high profile contentious trusts and probate cases.

Fellow partner Alison Webber, a family law specialist, also appears in the Legal 500’s 28th edition, recommended to clients for her handling of all areas of family law in a career spanning 30 years.

Aside from the individuals named by the Legal 500, the firm is recommended for corporate and commercial work, licensing, dispute resolution, employment, agriculture and estates, family, personal tax, trusts and probate and commercial property.

Maynard Burton, partner and chairman of mfg Solicitors, said: “Between them Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500 are the most respected, independent rankings of lawyers across the world.

“We are delighted that a variety of our team are listed. It is testament to their outstanding work, their expertise and their ability to get to and stay at the very top of their respective fields.”

Also recognised in the Chambers and Partners UK Guide for their long-term credentials and expertise were farming consultant Jim Quinn and tax consultant Alan Neal. Throughout their careers, both Mr Quinn and Mr Neal have successfully led many high-profile agricultural and tax-related cases and appeals.
